As evening falls in Antwerp, Flanders’ gritty but fashionable hub, the streets take on a chic dystopian vibe. The city would make a great set location for any film needing large, beautiful but semi-empty streets during the evening hours.

In little Lukenbach, Texas, musicians of the dirt-road stripe converge far and wide to play in the small “town” (population 3)’s bar-cum-post office…and sometimes, more official-like, on an outdoor stage. During a recent expedition to the Texas Hill Country, I pulled into Lukenbach and caught a show.

“La Calzada” is Granada, Nicaragua’s, main avenue, connecting the town square to the Malecon, the city’s lakefront shore. Over the tree-lined stone street between the bright houses and colonial churches, tourists walk and shop, and youths fly by on bikes.
